Belfast: Police investigate death of woman at nightclub


Following an incident at Lux nightclub in Belfast City Centre, police are currently investigating the death of a woman on Sunday morning. The authorities, along with paramedics and fire crews, arrived at the venue around 02:20 GMT after two women had been reported unconscious. Tragically, one of these women, aged in her 20s, had died by the time authorities arrived, while the other was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

After receiving the news, a spokesperson for Lux expressed their condolences. They said, “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the parents and family during this very difficult time. Our focus is now to help the police with their investigation and our staff wellbeing”. The nightclub will now close for the evening.

Hospitality Ulster expressed its sadness, with chief executive Colin Neil releasing an emotional statement. He said, “Nobody should ever go on a night out and not return home.”

The police have appealed to anyone with information to come forward. Currently, they are in the process of investigating the incident and providing updates. The cause of the women’s conditions and death has not yet been released, but it is hoped that the investigation will give the family and loved ones some answers during this difficult time
