A teenager named Liz Hatton, 17, passed away from cancer on Wednesday morning. She had been diagnosed with an aggressive desmoplastic small round cell tumour and was given only between six months and three years to live. Despite the diagnosis, Liz remained determined to complete her life’s work. Liz’s mother, Vicky Robayna, updated Liz’s followers on social media about her daughter’s passing. She said that Liz remained “determined to the last” and remained her true self to the end. Harrogate Grammar School, where Liz completed her GCSEs and started studying for her A-levels before her diagnosis, praised Liz’s spirit, humor, and photographic talent. Despite the odds against her advancement, many describe Liz as an ambitious likeable person. Kerry Reeves-Kneip, a spokesperson for the bone and soft tissue cancer charity Sarcoma UK, said Liz’s connection to Kate “captured a moment of genuine human connection that resonated with people around the world,” referring to a photograph circulated on social media after Liz’s meeting with Kate
