A man has been stabbed on Westminster Bridge in London and is currently in critical condition. Emergency services were called shortly before 11:00 GMT on Sunday morning to reports of a fight on the bridge. The London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance attended and transported the victim to the hospital.
The Metropolitan Police have said that three people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while another was arrested for affray. Two of those arrested were taken to the hospital for minor facial injuries. The incident is not being thought of as terror-related.
Westminster Bridge is currently closed while police officers investigate. Buses operating on routes 11, 12, 148, 159, and 453 are being diverted.
The incident comes after several stabbings took place in London in recent weeks. On 5 March, a woman was found fatally stabbed in Greenwich; while a man in his twenties was killed in Lewisham during the early hours of 14 March. The stabbings occurred despite the UK being under strict lockdown restrictions.
Officers have urged anyone with information about the attack to come forward. The City of Westminster Police tweeted, “Any witnesses or anyone with any information can call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 2444/28 March.”
A manhunt is currently underway to find the perpetrator of the attack in Lewisham. No arrests have been made so far
