The 10-year-old with his own woodworking business

A grandfather and his 10-year-old grandson have created a luxury woodworking business called Wally Boy Workshop. Roy and Alfie founded the company at the start of the year and have already made over £1,000 selling high-end chopping boards. The boards are created in Roy’s garage workshop in Wallingford.

Alfie has big dreams for the profits he makes from the business. He puts all profits directly into his savings so that he can eventually create a water source for people who need it in Africa. The young entrepreneur started getting into woodworking at the young age of four, which allowed him to develop his skills over time.

While Roy takes care of the heavy machinery, Alfie sands and oils the products. He also takes care of the business side of the venture. The pair hope to see the business take off after they were contacted by a University of Oxford college. The college requested that the duo make items from a tree that fell on their property.

Roy owns a popular barbershop called Thames Salon in Wallingford. He said that Alfie is always welcome in his workshop, spending time there on Wednesdays and Sundays when he has his days off from school. Roy wanted to give Alfie a different outlet than the sport that his other athletic brothers are involved in.

Alfie said time spent woodworking with his grandfather makes him feel less stressed. Roy said he enjoyed spending time with his talented grandson and believes that Alfie will remember it for the rest of his life. The young boy hopes to make woodworking his career when he is older. His ultimate goal is to build a water source for underprivileged people in Africa using the profits he makes from Wally Boy Workshop
