A BMW has hit a child in Bristol, causing injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. The incident took place on Long Cross, in the Lawrence Weston area of the city. The vehicle had left the road before the impact occurred. An 18-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. A spokesperson said, “We dispatched a Hazardous Area Response Team, two land ambulances and additional resources to the scene.”
PC Dan Cox said in a statement, “The injured child was with his family at the time of the incident and we’re providing them with all the support they need. Our focus now is to identify the woman who was in the car and left the scene. I don’t doubt that this incident will have shocked the community, but I want to reassure people that we’re carrying out a full and thorough investigation.” The officer further urged anyone who saw the crash or had information that could be helpful to make contact with the authorities via calling 101.
The child’s current condition has not been updated at this time. The police has since called on the inhabitants of the area to refrain from posting or sharing any details of possible sightings of individuals believed to be involved in the incident on social media
