Ask for Angela: BBC exposes pubs failing to enforce safety scheme


An investigation by the BBC has found that many UK bars and clubs are not implementing the Ask for Angela programme, a project set up to offer a discreet way for vulnerable customers to request help. Many councils across the UK now make participation in the scheme a condition of granting alcohol licences. However, undercover reporters found that staff at half the London venues, including leading chains such as JD Wetherspoon, Greene King and Simmons, did not respond when asked for Angela. The BBC received similar reports from across the UK.
