Leeds City Bus station bosses apologise for 'terrible' smell

Passengers at Leeds City Bus Station have expressed their dissatisfaction with the “terrible” smell which has persisted inside the building for almost two weeks. Staff at the station in the city centre have confirmed that the bad odour has been lingering for at least 10 days. According to a bus passenger named Scott, 29, he has stopped taking his children inside the bus station due to the unpleasant odour. West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) apologised to passengers and said the cause of the smell is being investigated.

On Sunday, some passengers were visibly affected by the smell upon entering the station. A maths and physics student named Tobias Cannon, 19, who was travelling to Leeds from Manchester to work told the BBC that the bus station “reeks.” One passenger likened the odour to the smell of cows. Another passenger, Has Samin, 32, who travelled from London to Leeds, said he was shocked by the smell.

WYCA is responsible for managing the bus station under its remit covering transport in the region. A spokesperson for WYCA has thanked members of the public for their patience and assured that they are “working with partners and contractors to investigate the problem.” Further efforts will be carried out in the early days of the week, and passengers will continue to be updated on its progress.
