Carlisle man arrested for 'racially abusing' Wigan Athletic player

A 37-year-old man was arrested by the Cumbria Police on the suspicion of racially abusing a footballer. The police stated that the arrest was made after Carlisle United lost 2-0 to Wigan Athletic in the first round of FA Cup played in Brunton Park. The police forces around the world must be vigilant in their efforts to eradicate racist behaviour in sporting events and other public places.

The Football Association (FA) is yet to comment on the incident, but it has always maintained a zero-tolerance approach towards racism. It is hoped that the culprit in this case is brought to justice, and such incidents become a thing of the past
