Russell Brand: Met Police send CPS file to consider charges

Russell Brand, comedian and actor, is being investigated by detectives over allegations of historical sex offences. Evidence has been compiled and sent to prosecutors who will decide whether to bring charges against Brand. Police have interviewed Brand three times since September 2023, following an investigation by Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches. Other claims made during the investigation include allegedly controlling, abusive, and predatory behavior by Brand.

Earlier this year, Channel 4 apologized for not appropriately addressing a complaint made against Brand in 2009, while Banijay UK issued a statement apologizing for failing to escalate or adequately address informal concerns raised by staff. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, head of the investigation team, has pledged that his team will provide specialist support to the women who have come forward. He also stated that the police are committed to investigating sexual offenses, regardless of when they were alleged to have taken place
