A man has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for a “revenge attack” in which he used his car to knock a man to the ground and break his ankle. Shamrez Razaq pursued the victim in an Audi, with other accomplices, before driving into him again in a nearby cul-de-sac, according to Bradford Crown Court. Razaq, who has no previous convictions, then left his car and joined at least four others in kicking the victim while he was down. The incident is believed to have been in response to something that had happened to a relative of Razaq.
Judge Ahmed Nadim said Razaq had engaged in planned violence, showing “little regard for other members of the public who got caught up in it”. Razaq pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving and assault. The judge said Razaq would have to serve two-thirds of his sentence before being considered for release and he was also banned from driving for seven and a half years.
