A dog attack on Monday has resulted in a 12-year-old girl being hospitalized and suffering life-changing injuries. Gwent Police were called to Brynmawr in Blaenau Gwent to respond to reports of the attack, resulting in the arrest of a 37-year-old man and 42-year-old woman, both believed to be the owners of the dog in question.
The two suspects were arrested on suspicion of owning or possessing a dog bred for fighting, and owning or possessing a dog dangerously out of control. Gwent Police have emphasized that there is no further risk to the public in the aftermath of the incident, and the dog in question has been seized and will be destroyed.
Supt John Davies of Gwent Police has described the incident as “distressing for those involved,” and has confirmed that the two suspects remain in police custody, with an ongoing police presence in Brynmawr due to the ongoing investigation. No other animals were involved in the attack, and the police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
