Gaynor Lord died by misadventure in Norwich river, inquest hears


Gaynor Lord, a 55-year-old mother of three, was found dead in the River Wensum in Norwich on December 15, 2023, after her week-long disappearance. Ms. Lord had recently watched a TV programme about cold water swimming, an inquest heard, citing a statement by her husband, Clive. Although there was no reason for her to be in Wensum Park and not a park they both had visited, Senior Coroner Jacqueline Lake said she believed Mrs Lord intended to enter the water but did not intend to take her own life and concluded she died by misadventure.

Ms Lake noted that Ms. Lord took hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause and was receiving treatment for epilepsy. Her mental health was stable in January 2023, but she has acted out of character in recent days, according to evidence given in court.
