Man arrested after three die in Luton block of flats

Police have arrested a man aged 18 on suspicion of murder, following the discovery of three deceased people in the Marsh Farm area of Luton. Officers were responding to concerns about the welfare of some residents when they discovered the injured people at a flat in the 15-storey Leabank building at approximately 05:30 BST. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Following searches, police found a weapon.

Det Supt Rob Hall described the situation as “a truly appalling incident which has sadly resulted in the tragic deaths of three people”. Armed police and white-clad investigators were seen at the tower block and on nearby green space. The 18-year-old suspect was arrested that morning on Bramingham Road. Detective Superintendent Hall stated that there was no believed threat to the wider community.

Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy announced that, following the arrest, officers conducted searches in the area, leading to the recovery of a weapon. He did not provide further details of the type of weapon found. Details such as age and sex of the victims will not be made public until their next-of-kin have been notified.
