Baby Elsa: Abandoned baby 'doing well' but parents still unknown

A baby who was abandoned in Newham, east London earlier this year, is doing well, a court revealed. Baby Elsa was found by a dog walker wrapped in a towel inside a bag within an hour of her birth. The same area where Elsa was found, three siblings had been abandoned over seven years. Elsa’s identity currently remains unknown, as police have been unable to identify her parents. The investigation is ongoing, and officers believe a woman seen in the area may hold vital information.

Newham London Borough Council’s Kate Claxton stated in court no current leads exist, and that the investigation continues. Angela Angelo, the adoption agency director, said the child was doing exceptionally well considering her terrible start to life. Elsa’s six-year-old brother Roman, who was found in similar circumstances off of Roman Road, was the second of the three siblings found. Harry, the third sibling, was wrapped in a white blanket and found in Plaistow in September 2017. Harry and Roman, who were adopted, had changed their names.

Elsa’s mother remains unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing. The Metropolitan Police Department said further information is crucial and asks anyone with knowledge about Elsa to contact them. A judge announced further hearings would be held in Baby Elsa’s case at a later date.
