Fans of the legendary British rock band Oasis are thrilled after being able to purchase highly coveted gig tickets for their planned shows set for 2025 in both the UK and Ireland. A select few were given the opportunity to buy the first batch of tickets during a narrow three-hour window late last week. With such limited availability, many were left disappointed and therefore directionless in getting their hands on any tickets at all. The group has not performed together since the summer of 2009, leaving their fan base growing anxious for a reunion since that time.
After tickets went on sale, there were rumours that prices were being listed well above the actual value, with standing tickets apparently being sold for more than £6,000 online – over 40x their face value. The band released a statement, asking fans who did manage to purchase tickets not to try and resell them at a higher rate through unaffiliated websites. They also noted that tickets bought through these unauthorized channels would be invalidated, and that the purchasers would therefore not be permitted entry to the show.
Oasis was one of the most successful British rock bands of all time, with frequent comparisons to other legendary acts such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The Manchester-based group enjoyed a number of high-profile releases over the years, with songs such as Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger reaching the top of the charts. Their electrifying live shows have left many fans eager for a reunion, and with the band’s latest announcement regarding their future tour plans, it seems that those fans will finally have their wishes fulfilled.
Given the events of the past two years with the global pandemic, the news serves as an uplifting message of the prospect of a return to normality in the near future. It also highlights the fervour and loyalty of Oasis’ fans, with some of them even willing to pay exorbitant prices for a chance to see their beloved band perform live on stage. As the world begins to open up slowly, others will have their opportunity to also grab their tickets for the tour as more become available in the days and weeks to come
