After much anticipation, Chase & Status have finally released their long-awaited collaboration with Stormzy, titled ‘Backbone’. The track made waves across the internet after it was previewed during a show at Ushuaïa Ibiza last month, where Stormzy surprised the audience by joining the duo on stage. The single initially debuted during Chase & Status’ live set at Coachella in April, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its official release.
According to Chase & Status, “We are so gassed to work with the legend that is Stormzy. We’ve always wanted to bring his energy into our world and are so excited for the fans to hear this collaboration.” The duo performed their largest live show ever at the Milton Keynes Bowl over the weekend. In 2023, the producers released their 10-track album ‘2 Ruff Vol 1’, which helped them secure the Producers Of The Year award at The BRIT Awards in 2024.
In the meantime, Stormzy has been working on his new venture, Merky FC HQ in Croydon. The multipurpose space, created in partnership with Adidas, features multi-purpose rooms like a recording studio and sports gaming hub. The rapper had previously launched the Merky FC Careers programme in 2022, which aims to tackle racial inequality in the football industry off the pitch.
