Tickets still available for next week’s Burning Man festival amid slow sales

For the first time, Burning Man 2024 has had to open up tickets to non-registered buyers as it has yet to sell out. Despite previous editions selling out within 30 minutes, the 73,000 allocation for the event in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, is still available even though it begins next week. The event’s slow sales are attributed to last year’s torrential rain, which saw thousands stranded on the site. The non-registered ticket sale, known as the “OMG Sale,” will allow approximately 3,000 buyers to purchase up to two tickets and 1,500 vehicle passes.

A general ticket to this year’s Burning Man will cost $575 before taxes, while a vehicle pass costs $150 and a VIP ticket $1,500. Organizers say experiencing the awe, inspiration, creativity, and community of the festival in Black Rock City is the antidote to the societal division and polarization. Last year, the festival faced torrential weather conditions which saw the desert plans turn into mud. As a result, thousands were stranded at the festival, with all toilets ceasing to work. Festivalgoers were instructed to take shelter and ration food and water until conditions improved and the ground dried.

Organizers have warned against walking in the mud barefoot to avoid “playa foot,” a chemical reaction caused by the alkaline soil of the dried lake bed that can burn the skin. Burning Man’s CEO, Marian Goodell, said the organization is pleased to offer greater access to more people near the event. The sale is an exciting opportunity to connect more people interested in Burning Man and the arts and culture. Tickets to Burning Man 2024 are still available and set to take place between August 25 and September 2.

In other news, Google has acquired the majority share of Burning Man. For those interested in the festival, tickets can be found on the official website
