Coldplay has revealed that their new single, ‘We Pray’, featuring artists like Burna Boy and Little Simz, will be released on August 23. The five-piece shared the news on social media and confirmed that the track will also include Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna and Argentine singer Tini. ‘We Pray’ is the second single from their forthcoming tenth studio album, ‘Moon Music’, which is set to be released on October 4. Coldplay preceded this latest announcement by releasing lead single ‘Feels Like I’m Falling in Love’ on June 21 and initially debuted ‘We Pray’ during their Glastonbury headline set on June 29.
In their Glastonbury performance, Coldplay was joined by Simz and Elyanna, and Burna Boy was shown in the background. The band has been working on ‘Moon Music’ since last year and revealed in January that it was nearly finished, calling it a “second [2021 album] Music of the Spheres volume”. Frontman Chris Martin previously spoke about the challenges of releasing music in 2021, calling it “intense” due to their determination to make 12 albums.
NME reviewed Coldplay’s performance at the festival, giving it four stars and saying that with a range of guest appearances, some light-hearted commentary, and an appearance by Michael J Fox, Chris Martin and the band ensured their fifth headline set was one for the books. Despite the uncertainty over the band’s future, their set demonstrated a successful attempt to create a night that felt like home.
