Peter Perrett’s third album, ‘The Cleansing,’ is set to release on November 1, and it will feature an impressive list of special guests, including Johnny Marr, Fontaines D.C.’s Carlos O’Connell, Bobby Gillespie, and Dream Wife’s Alice Go. The album will include 20 songs, making it one of Perrett’s most ambitious projects to date.
Perrett’s sons, Jamie, who produced the album, and Peter Jr., who played bass, as well as his live band members, played on some tracks, but the guest performers add some flair to the album. Although the subject matter of the album touches on heavy issues like ageing, addiction, depression, and social media, Perrett mentioned an uplifting feeling throughout the album. “I’m obviously enjoying recognising what is going on around me,” he said.
Perrett’s lead single for the album is “I Wanna Go With Dignity,” which features Bobby Gillespie and Carlos O’Connell. The song is inspired by the late David Cavanagh and the late Fiona H. Stevenson, who both previously interviewed Perrett. The video for the single was directed by Douglas Hart and features Gillespie.
Perrett’s solo career started in 2017 with his first album, ‘How the West Was Won,’ and he followed it up with ‘Humanworld’ in 2019. His upcoming album is highly anticipated, and the Only Ones frontman is eager to share it with the world.
Besides his solo career, the Only Ones reunited last year for a few shows as a three-piece after the death of its drummer, Mike Kellie, in 2017. Additionally, Perrett is set to play a special intimate show at Moth Club in London in October. Tickets for the show are available for purchase here
