Following violent incidents in the city over the weekend, Liverpool City Council has released an update on its services for families. Despite the incidents, all Family Hubs and Children’s Centres are operating as usual, ensuring that families and children who depend on these services still have access to them.

Providers who support the council with its Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme have been issued Department for Education guidance. The HAF programme runs throughout the city during school holidays, and providers have been advised to contact Mersey Play Action Council, which coordinates the scheme on behalf of the council, for any additional support they may need.

Despite the events that took place over the weekend, all HAF programme events still went ahead as planned. Monitoring of the current situation will continue, with parents advised to contact individual providers for the most up-to-date information.

It’s also reassuring to know that youth provision for older children is still operating as usual, providing needed support for this vulnerable age group. The council’s decision to continue operating these vital services is a testament to their commitment to their constituents
