The highly anticipated season two of Max’s hit TV series, “The Last of Us,” has been released. The footage was shared by Max as part of a showreel of HBO’s forthcoming offerings for the years 2024-2025. Along with “The Last of Us” season two, other television series were teased, including “The White Lotus” season three, the debut of “The Penguin,” “Dune: Prophecy,” and the “Game of Thrones” spin-off “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

“The Last of Us” season two follows the events of the 2023 video game sequel, with returning actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. New cast members to the show include Kaitlyn Denver, Catherine O’Hara, and Isabela Merced. The new season has only seven episodes, with showrunner Craig Mazin stating, “The story material that we got from Part II of the game is way more than the story material that was in the first game, so part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story across seasons.”

Gamers flooded the comments on Max’s Instagram page regarding the new season, noting that television viewers unfamiliar with the game may not be prepared. Neil Druckmann, the show creator and executive producer, co-wrote the HBO series. “The Last of Us” became HBO’s second biggest premiere in over a decade after “House of the Dragon,” with 4.7 million viewers across HBO and streaming service Max in the US.

No official release date has been revealed for “The Last of Us” season two, but it is now available on streaming service Max
