Ken Bruce, a radio presenter, recently received backlash after making remarks about Taylor Swift during an interview with The Mail On Sunday. Bruce, who now hosts a show on Greatest Hits radio, said he would only play Swift’s songs when she writes something that isn’t about her ex-boyfriends. He also criticised the long intros that Swift’s songs tend to have.
Bruce went on to say that his core audience is older and that his radio show focuses on music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. He added that they do play some songs from the 2000s and 2010s, but only from the notable artists. The comments caused an uproar amongst Swifties, who accused Bruce of being out of touch and misogynistic.
Swift recently described the experience of pulling a crowd of 50,000 outside of her Eras Tour in Munich as “magical”. In a recent Instagram post, she mentioned that she had no idea there was a huge park behind the stadium, and she was touched that so many people came out and listened to her show from the hillside.
Despite being an arena show, NME reported that Swift and her fans have managed to cultivate a community during her UK ‘Eras Tour’ opener in Edinburgh. Strangers swapped friendship bracelets, laughed and cried together and embraced the tour’s in-jokes and lore. Swift has inspired more than the renaming of a Scottish loch, and countless fans have come out to embrace being a part of the Eras family. With the ‘Eras Tour,’ Swift has managed to craft a marvel of a show that comes with a beating heart.
In conclusion, Bruce’s remarks about Swift’s music were not taken well by her fans, who accused him of being misogynistic and out of touch. Swift’s Eras Tour continues to inspire countless fans and create a community through her music
