John Bonham once tried to punch Alex Van Halen, son reveals

The incident occurred years prior to Bonham Jr. receiving the anecdote from Michael Anthony, current bassist of Van Halen. Bonham Jr. recounted the story on KSHE 95, stating that he was introduced to Van Halen by Leonard Haze, a member of Y&T. Despite being enthusiastic about meeting Van Halen, Bonham Jr.’s excitement was tempered by Van Halen’s lack of interest in meeting him. Bonham Jr. said that Van Halen replied to the introduction by asking “So what?”.

Van Halen, the band co-founded by Alex and his late brother Eddie Van Halen, disbanded following Eddie’s death in 2020. In related news, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day recalled meeting Eddie and admitted to crying upon meeting him backstage.

Bonham Jr. is also a musician and continues to perform
