The Cause set to open new Dalston restaurant and cocktail hi-fi bar The Marquee Moon

A new restaurant and hi-fi listening bar is set to open in Dalston, London, from August 15, founded by the co-founders of The Cause nightclub, Stuart Glen and Eugene Wild. The Marquee Moon, named after Television’s cult 1977 album, will offer music until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays with DJs programmed by The Cause for “Moonlight Sessions”. The Cause has previously opened All My Friends in Hackney Wick and The Greyhound in Peckham.

The bar will feature state-of-the-art JBL hi-fi sound systems from AudioGold, who provided the fitted sound equipment. The coming weeks will feature sets from NTS resident Mafalda, Secretsundaze co-founder Giles Smith, The Cause resident Rosy Ross, Grace Sands, Charlie Bones and OG (Do!!You!!! World!) and others. The Marquee Moon also shows commitment to food, as wild and Glen’s most food-focused venue to date, with British pub classics and an Asian twist inspired by India, Thailand and China.

The Marquee Moon is replacing The Marquis of Lansdowne pub. The Cause was founded in 2015 and aims to support mental health causes with proceeds donated from the events. The nightclub has held parties with the likes of techno veteran Dave Clarke and the Goldie collaborator Josey Rebelle.

Wild told Resident Advisor: “The Cause has always been more than a nightclub. It’s a grassroots project that exists to support the community, promote positive causes and create a space for people to express themselves. As we’ve grown we’ve wanted to branch out and expand our offering, but it’s our priority to always ensure that we focus on quality and creativity, both with the music programming and the food and drink options.
