Girl group Sugababes have teamed up with Two Shell for their latest single, ‘Round’. The track features re-recorded vocals from the group’s hit ‘Round Round’ and is powered by Two Shell’s UK garage-influenced drums. This marks the first time Sugababes have re-recorded any of their classics. Two Shell first debuted the track during a 2022 Hessle Audio guest mix. Since then, fans have been buzzing about the release.
In addition to the Sugababes collaboration, Two Shell have recently worked with FKA twigs on the single ‘Talk to Me’, and released ‘gimmi it’ in May. ‘Round’ is described as “V7 of one of the most beloved underground hits of the millennium, recalibrated to suit the progressive hive mind of Two Shell in a typically innovative form.”
Siobhan Donaghy, who left Sugababes and has now rejoined the group, did not sing on the original version of ‘Round Round’. Heidi Range had taken Donaghy’s place in the band. The link-up with Two Shell marks the first time Sugababes have re-recorded any of their classic hits.
‘Round’ is a choppy and high-paced piece of music that retains the timeless nostalgia of the original song. Two Shell’s masterful re-working of the source material has left a “canny sense of recognition amongst the song’s composition” in the minds of fans. The track is available to stream now.
