Rebel Wilson film producers accuse her of “vicious lies” and cast doubt on Sacha Baron Cohen accusations

Rebel Wilson, the well-known Australian actress, has been accused of perpetrating “vicious lies” and spreading insinuations about comedian Sacha Baron Cohen by the producers of her latest film, The Deb. An amended complaint in Los Angeles filed by the producers’ representatives defends them against accusations of “inappropriate behaviour towards the lead actress of the film [and] embezzling funds from the film’s budget” made by Wilson in an Instagram video. Wilson singled out the film’s producers Amanda Ghost and Gregor Cameron, as well as executive producer Vince Holden.

The complaint argued that Wilson was responsible for certain problems on the film set due to her lack of professionalism and that she invented the accusations against the producers. The amended complaint also indicated that Wilson had a track record of verbalising “false and malicious lies” in an attempt to hide her own unprofessionalism and to advance her personal interests. This lawsuit has been filed so as to hold Wilson accountable and prevent the irreparable damages to producers’ personal and professional reputations.

Wilson has published a memoir, Rebel Rising, in which she accused Baron Cohen of harassing her on the film set of The Brothers Grimsby. An article in Variety revealed that the UK edition of the book was redacted, with a statement from the author that law issues in England and Wales prevented it from being printed. Baron Cohen’s representatives responded to the claims made by Wilson as “demonstrably false” and provided evidence from several sources to act as witnesses that these accusations never took place.

The amended complaint filed by the film producers of The Deb accuses Wilson of fabricating this story for ulterior motives. The complaint also includes Wilson’s demand for credits on the music of the film and her request that the producers assist in organising a record label with an external music group.

The response by Rebel Wilson was vehement and included the statement that the accusations were bogus, and the media was used by the producers to harm her further. Meanwhile, her memoir, Rebel Rising, has helped a fan with the body dysmorphia condition.
