The Killers tease new song ‘Bright Lights’ and Las Vegas residency stage show

The Killers have dropped tantalising teasers for an upcoming new song titled “Bright Lights” and revealed their plans for staging in their forthcoming Las Vegas residency. The band is preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark debut record “Hot Fuss” with eight full-album shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in their hometown. The gigs begin on August 14 and end on August 30.

The band has taken to Instagram in the past 24 hours with a series of posts, slowly unveiling details of an opulent, shiny new staging along with short clips of music. In the last one, triumphantly echoed vocals from frontman Brandon Flowers shout “Turn the bright lights on” above a thumping guitar.

The Killers’ Vegas residency follows a sold-out six-night run at London’s O2 Arena earlier this year as part of their “Rebel Diamonds” tour, which set a record for ticket sales. According to a four-star review of one of the shows, “The tone of the evening remains consistent: a balance of big hits and deep cuts from their entire discography.”

In a December 2020 interview with NME, Flowers offered insights into what a new Killers album might sound like. “You know how people say, ‘Oh, I don’t know what I’m doing’? Bands are always self-deprecating, but I’m going to be honest – I’m starting to know what I’m doing!” he said, and then added, “The goal has always been to get all four original members to take ownership and be proud of what we’re doing, but it’s so difficult with all four of us living in different cities.”

Flowers also revealed during the interview that he is working on his third solo album and said it is “different” from the first two solo records he made. He said he is “really loving how it’s turning out” and expects it won’t be released until 2025
