Roughly a week before its planned release date of August 4th, HBO’s House Of The Dragon finale has reportedly been leaked online. The leaks have not been published by NME, as we do not want to spoil the finale for viewers who wait for the official release. Clips from the season two finale have been circulating on social media, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok, but the original source of the leak remains unidentified. Despite most clips being removed from various platforms, it is still advised to be cautious of further leaks.
Variety suggests that around 30 minutes of footage have been shared so far, marking the second leak that House Of The Dragon has suffered. In October of 2022, spoilers for the show’s first season finale were leaked online similarly. Back then, HBO responded harshly to the unauthorized revelation, saying it was unhappy about the disruption of fans’ viewing experiences and that the episode would be broadcast “dirty.” Thus far, however, HBO has not commented on the latest leak.
HBO’s House Of The Dragon has been renewed for a third season, ahead of its season two finale. Additionally, the next spin-off TV adaptation from Game of Thrones, called A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, is set to air in 2025, although it does not yet have a release date. In another development, George R.R. Martin, the creator of the Game of Thrones books, has accused House of the Dragon of sloppiness in its portrayal of the House Targaryen sigil, despite praising the show’s writers for their imaginative changes to his original story.
Despite his points of contention, Martin gave season two of House of the Dragon a rave review. The initial instalments of the current season have been praised for their directing and narrative style, making it a popular fan spectacle. Critics have also noted the show’s emerging and bold plot, which gives a new perspective on the history of the Seven Kingdoms
