Eminem and his infamous alter ego Slim Shady continue their ongoing feud, despite the release of Eminem’s album ‘The Death of Slim Shady’. In a new video by Complex called ‘Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers: The Face-Off’, Eminem engages in a heated argument with an AI-generated version of Slim Shady that covers their entire career. The video shows Eminem dressed in a black hoodie and beard, while AI Slim Shady sports his iconic bleached blonde hair, white tee and sweatpants. Slim Shady criticizes Mathers for trying to kill off the character on his latest album.
During the video, Slim Shady voices his opinions on Eminem’s work since the apparent demise of the character, stating, “the music that you’ve been dropping since I bounced ain’t it.” Eminem, in turn, questions why Slim Shady is so obsessed with offending people, asking why he hasn’t taken a shot at someone who wasn’t a pop star or a non-rapping celebrity, or marginalized communities. He asks Slim Shady to leave those people alone.
It was also discovered that ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’, the album in which Eminem killed off the Slim Shady persona, was a “conceptual album”. This view was shared by the rapper, who had asked his fans to listen to it chronologically. In a three-star review of the album for NME, Jordan Bassett wrote, “Now that he’s dead, how about getting some new material?”
