Frank Ocean has taken to Instagram to seemingly tease a return to the studio. The singer-songwriter posted a new photo of him tracking a new song in the studio, where he is seen playing the bass. It is unclear whether this is an older photograph or a recent one.
The musician has made no concrete hints at dropping a new project since 2016’s much-lauded album Blonde. Since then, the release of just a handful of singles including ‘DHL’ and ‘In My Room’ have arrived. Last year, Ocean marked the ten-year anniversary of 2012’s Channel Orange by sharing previously unreleased music to soundtrack his radio show. He also dropped ‘Cayendo’ and ‘Dear April’ earlier this year, with the tracks previously being vinyl exclusives.
Ocean teased potential new music on his Instagram stories last year, where he posted a minute-long snippet of a new, unreleased song. The singer most recently headlined the first weekend of Coachella 2023, but he was forced to cancel his appearance for the second weekend due to injury. He was replaced by Skrillex, Fred Again.. and Four Tet.
Frank Ocean’s return to the studio has been eagerly awaited by fans and observers alike. While there is every possibility that new music is in the works, there have been no official announcements made at this point.
