Legendary rapper and cannabis icon Snoop Dogg shocked fans when he announced on Instagram that he is quitting weed. In a video post, Snoop cited health reasons for his decision, saying, “I’ve got to make a change, you know what I’m saying?…I’m tired of coughing, I’m tired of looking over my shoulder.” He asked fans to respect his privacy during this time. Snoop has been a vocal advocate for cannabis legalization and has even launched his own line of cannabis products.
The news of Snoop’s decision comes on the heels of a recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO) that recommended rescheduling cannabis and its derivatives to a less restrictive classification in international drug treaties. The report cited the growing body of evidence for the medical benefits of cannabis and called for increased research into its potential uses.
Snoop’s announcement also highlights the need for more education and awareness around safe cannabis use, including avoiding smoking and other harmful methods of consumption. Organizations like Safe Weed Education for Dispensaries (S.W.E.D.) are working to provide resources and information for both recreational and medicinal users, including at-home delivery services.
