Rod Stewart admits “I’m aware my days are numbered”

In a recent interview, Rod Stewart has admitted that he believes his days are numbered. The veteran rock star, who is approaching his 80th birthday, reflected on his mortality in a chat with The Sun. Despite acknowledging the fact that death is inevitable, Stewart stated that he has no fear: “We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear.”

The singer went on to say that he plans to make the most of the time he has left. Although he doesn’t know how much longer he has, he hopes to enjoy himself for at least another 15 years: “I say few – probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.” However, Stewart acknowledged that he can no longer indulge in the wild lifestyle he led during the ’70s and ’80s. Instead, he now takes great care of his voice both before and after every performance.

Despite his advancing years, Stewart shows no signs of slowing down. He is still performing to adoring crowds around the world, and last year sold his back catalogue for almost $100 million. Speaking to The Wall Street Journal at the time, he expressed his confidence in Irving Azoff’s ability to safeguard his life’s work and to give it the attention it deserves: “Irving and I are a couple of old-timers and I believe we have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. My life’s work is in safe hands with him.”

Whilst he may still be experiencing professional highs, Stewart has faced criticism in recent times for his political views. At a concert in Germany, he was booed after saluting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Despite this, however, the singer appears to be undaunted and is determined to enjoy the time he has left to the fullest
