The mother of a missing British man in Sardinia has urged her son to “approach someone for help” and not be afraid. Michael Frison, of Chard, Somerset, disappeared after leaving for a walk in the countryside near Luras on July 13. The 25-year-old, who was visiting relatives and volunteering on a farm in the north of the Italian island, left his phone, laptop, and ID behind at his accommodation. A police search for Frison was suspended on Friday, and his mother, Cristina Pittalis, has flown to the island in search of her son.
Ms. Pittalis has pleaded with her son to make contact with her or others and not be afraid to seek help if he needs it, even if it means approaching the officers. She is convinced that Mr. Frison is alive and asked anyone who receives her message to find her son and tell him that she loves and misses him and that his younger brother is suffering in his absence. Friends of Frison have launched a social media campaign to raise awareness of his disappearance with the hashtag #findMichaelFrison.
Frison’s father has also been vocal on social media, stating that Frison is “a quirky individual but a very loveable character,” and that he “didn’t seem troubled or worried about anything before he left.” A GoFundMe fundraiser, set up to raise money to help with the search, has raised over £7,000 ($9,554) from over 440 donors.
The family has appealed for information on Mr Frison’s whereabouts or any sightings since he disappeared. The community has shown an outpouring of support with people coming together to search for him, share information on social media, and offer any assistance that may be needed. With no leads yet, the family remains hopeful, and authorities continue their search
