Halsey has responded after Britney Spears claimed that she felt “harassed, violated and bullied” by Halsey’s new video. Halsey released her new song Lucky, which pays tribute to Britney’s classic 2000 track, and the video interpolates the fashion that Britney wore in old videos. However, Spears wrote she was “very upset” by the video, which references past outfits Spears has worn but portrays Halsey’s health struggles. Halsey revealed she had been diagnosed with Lupus and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder earlier this year.

“I feel harassed, violated, and bullied,” Spears wrote in a now-deleted post. She also threatened legal action against Halsey and called her “downright cruel”, adding: “I didn’t know an artist like her and someone I looked up to and admired would illustrate me in such an ignorant way by tailoring me as a [superficial] pop star with no heart or concern at all.

However, Spears later walked back her statement on X/Twitter, with her writing: “Fake news !!! That was not me on my phone !!! I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it 🌹 !!!”
In response to Spears’ tweet, Halsey responded: “I love Britney!!!! I always have and always will you were the first person who ever made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me everyday.”

Halsey has paid homage to the artist in the past, claiming synchronicity between Lucky and her own life, saying, “When I was five, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. Love you forever.” Halsey has previously teased more to come, including a new album
