My Chemical Romance has sent their fans into a frenzy of speculation after a series of cryptic Facebook posts. The band’s first post was an update to their profile picture which led fans to believe that an announcement was imminent. However, over the following few days, the band went on to publish a series of odd news stories on their Facebook page, including one about country singer Keith Urban’s supposed prostate cancer diagnosis, and another which mourns the loss of Corey Comperatore, who was killed at a rally where former US President Donald Trump was the target of an attempted assassination.
These strange Facebook posts have left fans of My Chemical Romance scratching their heads, wondering whether the band is trying to build up anticipation for an upcoming album or if they are just randomly posting news articles. Fans are keen to know whether the posts are a publicity stunt, especially because the band’s last post was in November of the previous year, promoting their appearance at the When We Were Young Festival due to be held in October in Las Vegas.
My Chemical Romance had previously stoked rumours of a reunion last year when an associate of the band posted a photograph of an acoustic guitar on Twitter. The photograph had a framed print with the phrase ‘I’m Not OK’. In addition, there was a post-it note attached to it with the message “5OON”. However, the Twitter account later claimed he was “trolling”.
My Chemical Romance played their last show of their reunion tour in March 2022. The band’s first show since their reunion was in December 2019, and their tour was delayed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band’s most recent single, ‘The Foundations of Decay’, was released in 2022, being My Chemical Romance’s first release in eight years. Their previous album was 2010’s ‘Danger Days’, and the band disbanded in 2013.
The band’s mysterious Facebook posts have caused fans to speculate whether the group may be preparing for another reunion or if they have a new album in the works. Fans are anxiously waiting for the band to make an announcement of some kind to alleviate their curiosity. Regardless of My Chemical Romance’s intentions, they have certainly succeeded in causing a stir among their dedicated fan base
