Armada Music, Warner Music Africa, and Africori have partnered to create a new V/A EP called ‘AMAPIANO TO IBIZA’. This EP features renditions of classic Ibiza house tracks with amapiano elements. The EP aims to merge several iconic classics with amapiano sounds, honouring its roots in house music.
Rosey Gold and Jay Music released the first track, a reinterpretation of Human Resources’ ‘Dominator,’ along with the announcement of the EP. The full record will be released later this summer, and reinterpretations will be released periodically leading up to the final release. Some of the tracks from Armada’s discography will be recreated with the help of artists such as DBN Gogo, Kelvin Momo, and Yumbs.
Maykel Piron, CEO of Armada Music Group, expressed his elation at the collaboration in the announcement. He noted that overtime, different genres worldwide have adopted and adapted house music. Piron stated that this project once again highlights house music’s potential to transcend boundaries and expressed his excitement to breathe new life into classic dance music.
The lead track, ‘Dominator,’ from ‘AMAPIANO TO IBIZA’ is already available through OUT OF ORDER. The press release website also provides links to other relevant articles, such as “Amapiano’s second wave: upcoming producers and the risks of exploitation.
