Kesha, the pop artist known for hits like “Tik Tok,” is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated new album. In a recent interview, Kesha looked back at her time in the music industry thus far, opened up about her new album, and explained how it feels like the start of a new chapter. The album is her first release since announcing her departure from RCA and Kemosabe Records last December.

“This is the first album I’m making where I’m 100 percent in control of everything. It feels like it’s my first album,” Kesha said in the interview. She added that “it feels divine” and “stands for a lot,” calling it “maybe the most beautiful time of my entire life!” Kesha is excited to share her new music with fans and is proud of the work done thus far. She has been teasing new music, and first shared her independent single “Joyride” on July 4. She later went on to perform at WeHo Pride, where she rocked the crowd as a “free motherfucking woman.”

The creation of the album took a huge positive toll on Kesha’s wellbeing, as she revealed in the interview. Moreover, it is expected to be more “fun” than her 2010 debut album Animal that first put her on the map. “It’s been deeply life-changing and profound to make this album, but it’s also the most fun I’ve ever had in my life,” she said in the interview. “If you thought ‘Animal’ was fun, just fucking wait.”

Kesha is no stranger to controversy in the music industry. The LA-born star initially sued Dr. Luke, endowing founder of Kemosabe Records, in 2014, claiming that he sexually assaulted and emotionally abused her. Dr. Luke denied the allegations and countersued Kesha, alleging that she breached her recording contract. Kesha maintained her original claims against Dr. Luke, and the case was settled before the trial in June 2023.

Kesha shared her experience as an independent artist in an article with Forbes reports earlier this month. She talked about the challenges of being in “a state of fear” and her newfound sense of honesty and vulnerability harnessed in her songwriting. Kesha has not said when her new album will be released yet, but fans are eagerly awaiting further details of its tracklist
