Met police searches for man who absconded from hospital

Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent search for a 20-year-old man who escaped from Springfield psychiatric hospital in Tooting last Friday. Adil Maxamed, a patient under the Mental Health Act, is believed to have absconded with two other men. The public has been warned not to approach him. Mr. Maxamed was last seen at Tooting Bec station on Friday night, having boarded a Northern Line train. He apparently has links to the Kingston area.

The movements of Mr. Maxamed are of urgent interest, according to the police. Three men left the hospital in Glenburnie Road together by breaking a glass door. One man was detained on Saturday, at a residential address in south London. Officers returned him to Springfield Hospital. Another man was detained in the Clapham Junction area on Saturday afternoon. The police did not reveal whether he is being returned to the hospital.

Anyone who has seen Mr. Maxamed or knows of his whereabouts is requested to contact 101, quoting reference number 8713/19jul. The police have stated that anyone sighting him should call 999 immediately.

BBC Radio London’s broadcasts provide further information on the escape. Meanwhile, other details may be found on BBC London’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Anyone with a story related to Adil Maxamed’s escape is asked to contact hello.bbclondon@bbc.co.uk
