Watch Krist Novoselic join tribute band FooVana for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and ‘Lithium’

Krist Novoselic, former bassist for Nirvana, joined tribute band FooVana on stage this week for a few covers of Nirvana classics such as “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Lithium”. The performance took place during FooVana’s show at Georgie’s Garage in Vancouver, Washington on July 18. FooVana had teased the collaboration on Facebook earlier that day.

This performance is not the first time Novoselic played Nirvana songs recently. Last month, his current group The Bona Fide Band played “Love Buzz” in Kurt Cobain’s hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. The song was originally by Dutch band Shocking Blue in 1969 but later covered by Nirvana and released as their debut single in 1988.

In a previous interview with NME, Novoselic revealed that there was a chance for a reunion of surviving Nirvana members in the future. He said that he would like to reunite but does not want to overdo it. “We try to make it special and be grateful,” he said. “When the opportunity comes, we do it if it feels right. In the meantime, we just remember Kurt and do our thing.” He also mentioned that they have some new material recorded but have yet to decide what to do with it.

Recently, Nirvana settled a copyright dispute over the band’s smiley face logo. In 2018, the band sued fashion company Marc Jacobs International after it debuted a “Redux Grunge” collection featuring the logo
