Mitski has released her English-language cover of the Italian protest song ‘Bella Ciao’. The Japanese-American artist shared the song on YouTube, revealing that she used Google Translate and took inspiration from Tom Waits and Marc Ribot’s English version of the track. Mitski admitted that her translation may not be perfect and encouraged fans to try their own versions in different languages. The cover is available to listen to on YouTube.
Mitski is due to headline All Points East on 18 August, leading a lineup that also includes Beabadoobee, TV Girl, Ethel Cain, and Arlo Parks. Other artists supporting Mitski at the event in London’s Victoria Park include Suki Waterhouse and Men I Trust. LCD Soundsystem, Loyle Carner, The Postal Service, Death Cab For Cutie, and Kaytranada will also lead the bill this summer.
Mitski’s latest album, ‘The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We’, was released in September. An NME review praised the work, describing it as some of Mitski’s most complex and richest music. The artist’s last London performance took place at the Union Chapel in October 2021, earning a five-star review from NME.
