CROP Radio, a new community radio station based in Manchester, has revealed its first 100 residents. The station, which is located in the city centre nightclub and venue Stage & Radio, aims to promote underground electronic sounds from across the spectrum through regular programming. The new residents, who include Fliss Mayo, Gracie T, Henzo, yyre, Fastlove, and Emby, have been chosen to boost the station’s programmes.
CROP has also launched a new website to stream its programmes, which was christened at a free event in the studio. The event’s line-up included Kop-Z, Esme, colecta and Qwirk, and was open to all. CROP Radio is looking to build an extended “family” of residents and crews to cultivate a creative community where experimentation and development from artists is encouraged.
Connor Cooper, of CROP Radio, said, “We noticed a space for us to exist and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. We hope that through creating an extended family of residents and crews that can associate and be part of CROP, as well as having the door open to so many others who want to contribute, helps to cultivate that.”
CROP Radio is aiming to be a platform that promotes its community of resident artists, working toward digital and physical worlds’ collaboration, and showcases Manchester and surrounding areas. The station believes its studio and online streaming space will foster creativity, expression, and communication. Broadcasts can be accessed via CROP Radio’s website
