After 14 years of inactivity, DJ Flight has relaunched her play:musik label with an EP from jungle producer, Nectax. The EP will be available both digitally, with a bonus track, and as a limited edition 12” vinyl record, it will be Nectax’s second release this year after his debut EP, ‘Voychek’, which was released in December 2018. Described as consisting of “bass-heavy, future-facing tracks that respect the roots,” the ‘Body Talk’ EP will land on July 26, and it follows the 2010 release of L.I.S’s ‘Apple Fingers/The Phlebass Consideration,’ which was the last release on the label.
DJ Flight announced the relaunch on Instagram last week with the post read, “The first play:musik release in 14 years… out soon,” after teasing the EP last month. Following a limited test press earlier this month, the vinyl will be available for pre-order. “One of the next-gen jungle’s brightest stars and the provider of a large part of my sets over the last couple years,” Flight stated when promoting Nectax’s appearance on her Kool FM show.
Originally founded in 2005, the label oversaw productions from artists such as Martyn, Heist, and Visionary. The 12” vinyl and digital release are both available to pre-order now. Play:musik label marks DJ Flight’s return after a 14-year hiatus, and the EP is described as a celebration of new and old, something which “respect the roots”
