Indie rock band English Teacher has revealed a soothing cover of Billie Eilish’s latest single “Birds Of A Feather”. The cover version was performed during Jack Saunders’ New Music Show on BBC Radio 1 on Tuesday, July 16, and the band’s easy-going take on the song can be heard below.
Frontwoman Lily Fontaine explains that when she first listened to “Birds Of A Feather”, she immediately knew that the song had to be covered and sent it to her bandmates. English Teacher had previously covered tracks by The Smiths and LCD Soundsystem.
Eilish’s “Birds Of A Feather” was released on July 2, and has already been featured on a teaser for season three of Netflix’s Heartstopper. It is part of her album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’.
English Teacher’s debut album This Could Be Texas was given a glowing review by NME and featured in the “Best Albums of 2024 so far” list. The band have recently spoken about their love of Richard Hawley and his album ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’. Eilish, on the other hand, is set to read a children’s bedtime story on CBeebies on July 19
