Sacha Lord announces departure from The Warehouse Project and Parklife

After 20 years, Sacha Lord has announced that he will be stepping down from his roles at The Warehouse Project and Parklife. In 2016, LN Gaiety, a joint venture between Live Nation and Gaiety Investments, acquired a majority share in the two businesses and has now agreed to transfer Lord’s remaining shares. In his statement on Instagram, Lord acknowledged that this was not an easy decision to make as the two businesses have been his whole life for the past two decades.

Lord was a co-founder of The Warehouse Project in 2006 with Sam Kandel and Rich McGinnis, holding their debut event at Manchester’s Bodington’s brewery in Strangeways. Lord later co-founded Parklife in 2010, an annual music festival held in Manchester’s Heaton Park that just celebrated its 13th edition. According to Access All Areas, Kandel and McGinnis will remain part of The Warehouse Project team.

Lord’s decision now allows him to shift his focus towards his job as Night Time Economy Advisor to the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. Lord will also take up the position as Chair of the Night Time Industries Association. With this move, Lord will have more time to devote to these roles, thus advancing his professional career. Lord concluded his statement by thanking all the staff members, past and present, and the millions of people who have stepped foot in Parklife or The Warehouse Project, without whom these businesses wouldn’t have been so successful.

However, it is yet unknown who will take up Lord’s position at both The Warehouse Project and Parklife. For now, Lord will continue to be involved in the music and events industries, but it will be in a very different capacity. Lord has certainly left his mark in the music industry as a visionary co-founder of two of the most exceptional music events, both of which will continue to be a major force in the British music scene
