The group Tiny Habits, made up of Maya Rae, Cinya Khan, and Judah Mayowa, got their start at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Through posting covers to social media and focusing on their unique three-part harmonies, the group gained viral success and recognition from artists like David Crosby, Marcus Mumford, Phoebe Bridgers, and Noah Kahan. They also collaborated on NPR’s Tiny Desk and worked with notable artists such as Mark Ronson, JP Saxe, and Lizzy McAlpine.
During a recent interview, Tiny Habits discussed their musical inspirations and how they influenced their sound. Judah talked about the Bob Marley album “Legend,” which reminded him of his childhood because his dad used to play it frequently. Maya spoke of the classic Carole King album “Tapestry,” which she listened to often growing up and still loves today. Cinya mentioned “Still Crazy After All These Years” by Paul Simon, “For Emma, Forever Ago” by Bon Iver, and “Muna Saves the World” by Muna as albums that have inspired her music-making process.
Their most recent album, “All For Something,” featuring an LP+ coke bottle clear vinyl, was released earlier this year. Tiny Habits’ unique harmonies and hauntingly beautiful melodies are a reflection of the artists’ diverse musical background. As the band continues to grow and evolve, there is no doubt that their sound will continue to inspire and mesmerize fans around the world
