A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for heavy rainfall in various parts of England and Wales. The warning has been effective since 8 a.m. and will remain active until 11:59 p.m. BST on Monday. It includes Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol, Wales, and some parts of the northwest of England. The intense rainfall could cause thunderstorms, power outages, flooding, and travel disruptions as stated by the Met Office.

The Met Office has said that heavy and thundery rain will steadily spread northward across the region throughout Monday. They outlined the possibility of some torrential downpours in some places, with 15 to 20mm of rain falling in less than two hours and up to 40mm in three hours. These extreme weather conditions could pose a small risk to people’s lives.
Overall, the weather warning means that for parts of England and Wales, people need to make necessary preparations in advance whilst being alert during the day’s passing. The precipitation level forecasted guarantees the possibility of serious flooding, which could lead to property damage and displacement of individuals
