Kevin Parker, frontman of the Australian group Tame Impala, has partnered with Parisian brand A.P.C. to release a new fashion range, described as “psychedelic minimalism”. The collection features pastel tops, corduroy trousers, bucket hats and alpaca sweaters, and will be available from July 18. A.P.C. said Parker’s “bold, maximalist creative vision through the lens of A.P.C.’s considered, minimalist design language”. They also added that the collection offers a wearable accompaniment to Tame Impala’s music, in much the same way as the group’s live shows create an immersive sonic world. A.P.C. has worked with music artists in the past, including Kanye West and Kid Cudi.
Parker has also featured as one of the lead producers and co-writers on Dua Lipa’s album Radical Optimism after she brought him out on stage during her headline set at Glastonbury 2024 last month for a performance of Tame Impala’s The Less I Know The Better. Commenting on the record’s release, Parker said, “Don’t think I’ve ever been so proud of something I’ve worked on on release day. Shout out to the rest of the geniuses too. Infinitely grateful to be a part of it. Have a listen you guys… @dualipa.” At the beginning of the year, Parker referred to Lipa as a “brutal” editor while recounting the creative process of making the lead single on her album, Houdini.
In May, Parker announced that he had sold his entire music catalogue to Sony Music Publishing. He said he had a lot of trust and love for the Sony publishing family and that his songs could not be in “any safer hands”. He added, “I’m excited for the future and happy I can keep working with them on whatever the future brings.”
