Dutch DJ and producer, Grace Dahl, has announced the launch of her brand new label, Serial Disc Touchers, with the release of its first EP. The label’s aim is to celebrate diversity in sound and allow artists creative freedom without being pigeonholed into specific genres. Dahl’s own sound is generally associated with techno, but she has now embraced other styles of music and wants her label to give other creatives the space to do the same.
The EP was released on July 10th, as a collaboration between Dahl and Alec Dienaar, with remixers such as BENZA, Elise Massoni, François X, Jelena, Julian Muller and Vilchezz. Dahl describes the project as a labour of love, stating that it was a real pleasure working with Dienaar and that the song ‘Ech Wel’ truly captures what Serial Disc Touchers is all about.
Serial Disc Touchers is scheduled to release a V/A album featuring producers like Antic Soul, GLASKIN and ONYVAA as part of a full year of EP drops. Dahl is hoping that the label will provide a safe space for artists who feel like their work doesn’t fit into any specific box or genre.
For Dahl, it’s not just about showcasing her diversity in sound and embracing new styles, but also about honouring her late mother’s dream for her to incorporate her love of singing into her music. With the launch of Serial Disc Touchers, Dahl hopes to convey the message that music is meant to be fun and doesn’t need to conform to strict guidelines or rules.
