East Ham: Child dies and five hospitalised in house fire

In East London, a child has died after a house caught on fire, according to a statement from the London Fire Brigade (LFB). The fire spread across the ground and first floors of a row house situated on Napier Road in East Ham. The fire brigade said 40 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, which broke out just before 8:30 am BST.

According to an LFB spokesperson, the child was pronounced dead at the scene, while others were treated and taken to hospital by the ambulance service. To help those affected, including the family and friends of the deceased, members of the local community, and emergency responders, the LFB will offer support and counseling in the coming days.

The cause of the child’s death is presently being investigated, and enquiries are ongoing to trace their next of kin. LFB Assistant Commissioner Patrick Goulbourne said, “This is a terribly sad incident, and the thoughts of all of us at London Fire Brigade are with the family, friends, and all those affected at this difficult time.”

The fire was successfully put out by 9:09 am BST, with firefighters putting out the flames utilizing six fire engines. According to the LFB, the cause of the fire remains under investigation
