Following criticism from George Clooney regarding his ability to lead the Democratic party, former US President Donald Trump has taken to social media to mock the actor. Clooney had published an op-ed in The New York Times in which he encouraged current US President Joe Biden to step down as the Democratic nominee, claiming he had the power to save democracy by doing so. However, Trump fired back via his Truth Social platform, telling Clooney to “go back to television”, adding “movies never really worked for him.”
Concerns had been raised recently regarding Joe Biden’s performance in the Democratic party debate against Trump. Biden reportedly lost his way several times during the debate. His supporters started to question his ability to continue fighting for the White House. Joe did not make matters any easier for himself at a recent NATO summit where he mistakenly referred to Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “President Putin” and Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump”.
Several members of the entertainment industry have called on Biden to step down due to his physical competence for the upcoming election. Director Rob Reiner is among them, with his concerns being shared on social media platform X. The director wrote, “If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honour, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down.”
